Christmas Greetings from our President

"The true light that gives light to every man was coming [has come!] into the world." Jn 1:9

Greetings this wonderful time of year!

May we wish you each and all the most blessed and merry Christmas this season, and may the truth and wonder of "the reason for the season" touch your hearts and those of your friends and students.

Let us remind you that there are many suggestions for ESL Christmas lessons here on our blog:

P.S. A little research re "Santa Claus" may be worth your while. The words Santa Claus originated as a mispronunciation of the Dutch Sinterklaas, which in turn is a contracted form of Sint Nicolaas (Saint Nicholas), who was a devout (4th century) Christian man famous for his generous gifts to the poor, in particular presenting the three impoverished daughters of a pious Christian with dowries so that they would not have to become prostitutes. Reputedly he secretly tossed money from his inheritance through the window at night, it landing in the stocking of the father (hanging before the fire to dry).
